Veteran’s Suicide Prevention

🎖🎖🎖 FINAL GRAND TOTAL $17,040 !!🎖🎖🎖

You all are so incredible!! I appreciate all of you so much. Wow. Just WOW, I’m floored.

As I’m preparing for this fundraiser I find it incredibly fortuitous that this is beginning just a few days after 9/11. The event that rocked the US and began many, many years of military involvement overseas and our loved ones being sent to fight the war on terrorism.

Post-war trauma is not new to our country and with 4 times as many suicides coming after 9/11,  some say this single event has changed the face of how we view post-war with our loved ones.

While Veteran Suicide rates have decreased in some years, 2021 saw 4.6% more suicides according to the Department of Defense CYSR 2021 (calendar year suicide report).

This is why we’re here – to contribute to a cause that seeks to aid those vets facing challenges while on active duty or after active duty in order to move the needle in the right direction.

Who Does This Benefit?

Your Donations go directly to Home Runs For Vets. Home Run’s For Vets is a 501(c)(3) that holds softball tournaments to give veterans a sense of camaraderie as they face and resolve struggles after serving our country. These Tournaments not only provide the Veteran with a community to be part of; they also raise money for suicide prevention.

Home Runs For Vets is a 100% volunteer-run organization and 100% of the proceeds go directly to suicide prevention initiatives like retreats and prevention centers

Shipping Tips

How am I going to get this from point A -> B safely??

Okay…so the first thing you need to know is it is illegal to ship alcohol. Shippers require a license to ship alcohol. SO… I am in no way saying to violate the law. If you’re going to ship a glass bottle of liquid like olive oil or vinegar or BBQ sauce, I’d just like to help you get it there safely.

I prefer to ship with UPS and I’d suggest using them or another private company as opposed to a government operation like USPS.

Next…is protecting the bottle and packing the box
You’ll need (links at the bottom) :
  1. Sealing tape to seal the top: I use Nashua Stretch and Seal Silicone Tape and buy whatever color is on sale 😇 Some guys use Parafilm- it’s super speedy and I’ve had good luck with the Nashua. I’ve used X-Fasten and prefer the Nashua
  2. Stretch Wrap: Paper the bottle and then wrap the 💩 out of it with stretch wrap. Home Depot moving roll works well, I found that a heavy-duty film works better. I also prefer a dark or black, just in case a nosey body wanted to look in the box I want to make it as much effort as possible for the prying eyes
  3. Inflatable Bottle Protectors : Bubble wrap around the bottle is for newbs and dishes. Use an inflatable bottle protector
  4. Boxes: I keep 16x10x6 boxes on hand because they fit 2 bottles or a bottle and tube /box like EHT/Bookers. A14x5x5 box works but can be tight for some bottles and can only fit one. The Shipping price is nearly the same for either box. Lots of packing material like peanuts or heavy paper around the inflator bag holding the bottle….Buying a Roll of Bubble pack isn’t a bad idea to use, I will also use bubble-pack when I don’t have packing paper. Ultimately having the box look like it’s coming from a business to a consumer is your biggest advantage to fly under the radar. 💥Use a business as the Return address 💥Use a new fresh looking box 💥Don’t use slopy taping 💥Have a sticker made of your “home-business” on the outside
  5. Noise Maker: Current info is that there are some who know what’s likely in the box with a noise maker and it leads to your box disappearing; so maybe pass on the noise maker to cover slosh. See above #4
  6. Paying for Shipping: Last then actually paying the price to ship. Going to ups.com or fedex.com or their respective brick and mortar store you’re bound to pay the most. There are shipping integrators that off huge discounts such as: Go-Shippo, Ship Station, Pirate Ship, EasyPost, Easyship, Sendcloud, ShippingEasy, ShipWorks….probably even many more. I use Go-Shippo. Super easy to use. Great rates. e-com integration or useable as a web browser based standalone solution. For a 16x10x6 box with one bottle at 5lb, it’s $9 ~to ship a state or two away, ~$14 to ship 1/2 way across the US, and ~$17 to ship across the country…..#iykyk next time you see “+$10 E/WOM” 😆🤣😂

Fundraising for Down’s Syndrome

FINAL TOTAL RAISED $4,440

When this group all started for me it was to do Single Barrel Picks. I’ve been bumped on sample allocations for 6 barrel picks because the samples went to big whisky personalities; Bourbon Junkies, ADHD, Bourbon Pursuit, etc.

Yet, none of those guys were able to secure an Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Single Barrel pick; HUH???
💡
This just makes me realize HOW incredibly fortunate we are and I only have Tiffany N Jesse Stafford and Stafford Beverage – N. Wilsonville Liquor to thank.
😊
I don’t think I can ever adequately show my appreciation for them and their role in helping us get access to killer barrels.
🎗💙
For those who don’t know they have an incredible child with Down Syndrome and Down Syndrome Network Oregon is a charity they support and rally behind for the cause as well as how crucial Down Syndrome Network Oregon has been for their family
💥💥💥
So I grabbed a bottle of mine that I think everyone here would want and maybe even donate a few bucks to a charity in order to win; because that’s what I’m asking of you. A donation that is meaningful to you and money you won’t miss
😇
People from our Facebook group donated more, I added another and in the end, I gave away six bottles of bourbon to some incredible people who donated to Down Syndrom Network Oregon
Hi Brian,
Oh my, your fundraising on behalf of DSNO has honestly brought me to tears. The evening Tiffany texted me that you had initiated this effort, I sat there in awe as I watched the donation alerts pour in. I am not only moved by the monetary generosity, but by the fact that these are folks who aren’t even associated with our organization! People who just want to be incredibly kind and creatively give back to their community. There aren’t words to express my gratitude, just know I would love to give each and every one of you a hug!
Please go into your day knowing that your generosity is appreciated and will be used to bring families together for connection, support and likely a very good time!
Tiffany Morgan”

Beth Dutton – Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Single Barrel

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof

A classic staple in many bourbon lovers’ cabinets. Historically released 3 times a year in batches labeled A1XX, B5XX, & C9XX. In 2022 Elijah Craig jumped on the bandwagon and released barrel picks of the famed ECBP all over the country.

I have no idea how other than great relationships with a store that Chasing Bourbon got one of the first ECBP SiB’s to hit people’s pallettes.

We didn’t know the age at selection just Warehouse and Proof. The Deatsville EE 8yr was the clear winner for us.
