#2 💛 Amy Update

Amy’s tumors have grown since her last scan. She was accepted into a clinical trial but got disqualified due to a previous medication — gone in 60 seconds. She’s now holding off on starting anything new while pursuing 2–3 very promising trials, including one Brian described as a “DNA-guided nuclear bomb” targeted directly at the tumor. If none pan out, the likely path is high-dose chemo again. She’s fighting hard and researching everything. Updates in the next few weeks.

#3 🗺️ Where Was Brian Sunday/Monday?

Quick one-night trip to one of the largest wholesale barrel suppliers in the country (keeping the name quiet for now). He tagged along with an NDP selecting barrels — getting eyes on the operation ahead of his own Bluegrass pick in November. They tasted through 12–13 year Barton and MGP hazmats. One Barton short barrel at 152 proof was mind-blowing — deceptively smooth. He also walked out with a mystery sample: an 11-year, 128-proof, 75-21-4 mash bill bourbon from a source he’s not naming yet. He’s sending samples to a handful of people before November and plans to pull at least 10 barrels of it on his next trip — likely a future Bluegrass Oakwood Reserve pick.

#4 🫙 Glizzy — No Ship Yet, Here’s Why

Bottles are done but waiting on censored stickers to cover the label issue. Ordered on Amazon with expedited shipping — they charged for it, then used the slowest option anyway. Stickers expected Friday (Aug 29), bottles ship Monday. #ICYMI – The last 18 members who snagged a bottle near the end of the drop were in a drawing where ONE MEMBER got a free Rare Perfection 10 Chasing Bourbon Pick with their order 👊🏻

#5 📦 Traveling Sample Box — RIP

It’s gone. The original 24-bottle sample box made its rounds, slowed down, and eventually went MIA. Brian knew this was always a risk — no drama, it had a good run.

#6 ✈️ Traveling Sample Flight Kit — The Upgrade

Here’s what’s replacing it: custom Chasing Bourbon-branded wooden tasting flight boards. Sized for the large Stölzle nosing glasses, each board holds 4. Brian ships it out with 4 samples + 4 glasses → you taste, wash everything, pack it back up, ship to the next person. There will be a refundable deposit to keep it moving and protect against it going missing — when you ship it on, you get your deposit back. Brian paid for production in late July (~6 week build), so boards should arrive soon. Sign-up form goes to the membership as soon as they’re in hand. If you were on the old sample box list, your spot carries over automatically.

#7 🦃 Barrel King Turkey SIB — Drop FAQ

Short barrel means tight bottle count (~75 total). Brian renegotiated with Barrel King to make it work for as many members as possible:

– 26 × 750ml @ $160 — Lightspeed, Ludicrous 🛸 (2 Bottles per person) & Sonic Boom (1 bottle per person). If any pass, 750s flow down to lower tiers.

– 49 × 375ml @ $90 — Fly, Sprint & Run (1 bottle limit; grab a 750 instead if 1 375ml if available).

– Blend (737 Blend) @ $149 — 160 bottles. Brian recommends 2: drink one now, hold one to compare against the upcoming double oaks (up to 7 double oak releases coming from this program). Fly gets a 2-bottle limit, Sprint & Run🏃🏻‍♂️ limit upped to 2, below Run gets 1.

The SIB and Blend are dropping together so you can combine shipping ($25 flat for 6 bottles). Label artwork: the SIB and each double oak get their own unique “tater stickers.” The 737 Blend gets a turkey-on-a-737 design.

#8 📅 Upcoming Drop Projections

Here’s how the rest of the year looks (order may shift slightly):

1. Evernorth (next up) — Two single barrels: an OZ Tyler 13% rye bourbon and a high-corn Sagamore rye. Both around $65–$69. Don’t let the price fool you — same juice goes for $100–$130 elsewhere. The Sagamore barrel is also going into double-oak (char American oak) for a future release.

2. Preservation — Bottled while Brian was in Kentucky. New label color (antique/peachy, not green). Shipping to him now. Expected right after Evernorth.

3. Barrel King Turkey SIB + 737 Blend — Dropping together (see above). Just bottled last Friday.

4. Rare Character — Two barrels: a 12i (pizza demon label) and a K&F (donut demon label) — custom artwork with backgrounds matching the wax color. Expected November. Brian made it pretty clear this will almost certainly be the last Rare Character pick for Chasing Bourbon unless their business model changes significantly. 19 barrels over 4 years with zero high-end product — not acceptable.

5. December Shipping Hold Sale — ~24 remaining bottles from earlier picks (Bardstown Rye, Barrelcraft, Blackwood, Hartfield 10yr + more) available for anyone who missed them earlier in the year.

#9 🧪 Bonus

– Barrel char flasks — Adam Brown saved the wet char from the Barrel King Turkey barrel dump and is putting it in small Erlenmeyer flasks. Going in the store basically at cost (you’re paying for the flask). Smells incredible — pour some in your bottle if you want the full experience.

– Sample bottle sale? — Brian floated selling samples from bottles he never opens (Rare Character Exceptional, Doc Holiday 13yr, two Mayor Pingrees — all $300+ retail). Maybe a 4-pack kit for ~$35. Crowd was into it. Stay tuned.
